Two weeks ago I started the Animation Mentor Animals & Creatures course. It feels good to be this productive again. I had forgotten how rewarding and inspiring it was to dive into the ocean of knowledge that a school setting provides. My mentor this term is the hilarious Brian Mendenhall, an expert of quadruped motion, pantomime, and the art of conversation derailment. He is currently a lead animator at Tippet Studio.
Here is our first assignment, exploring the new cat rig through some dynamic posing exercises:
Our second assignment was a vanilla walkcycle for a big cat. In this walkcycle, he is supposed to be about the weight of a tiger. I just received my mentor's critique on this first pass, so I know all that is wrong with it, but here it is anyway:
I'll be posting a revised version later this week.

Hey Zach,
ReplyDeleteI can see your dynamic poses, but not your walk cycle. Can you repost again or is the problem in my aging comp? Otherwise, I am loving the Big Cat poses!

Did you try clicking the big play button and waiting? It might take a few seconds to load. I might just move to embedded Vimeo videos if this proves a problem. Let me know if you do get it working.
