A Painting

I originally created this painting for the Character of the Week contest over at ConceptArt.org. The topic was "The Monarch of Duality" - someone who was called on to save the world when the usual savior is busy.

My idea was to try and capture the moment of surprise right after a prince who has never been in battle receives the summons letter and is about to get armored up and sent out to save the land.

I got this to about 90% in October. I've been meaning to finish it up but loads has been going on and there hasn't been much time to do art at home. But here it finally is... Next time I think I'm working in gray scale. I need to practice lighting first without complicating everything with color.
